Bad Decisions

Boilermaker Monday in her lingerie with a group of stupid friends
one thing led to another and she found herself
in an alley taking punches to the head

CHORUS
Bad decisions make the best stories
Usually on down the road
Bad decisions get the best of me
And I don't know where to go

An aching in my head I found myself again in bed with a woman I despise
Not proud to say I'm not sure how I got this way
with the sister of my lover and two others

CHORUS
Bad decisions make the best stories

Usually on down the road

Bad decisions get the best of me

And I don't know where to go

In my messed up state of mind I thought it would be a good time

To fake a kidnap on the street
But apparently not everyone thinks like me
and a gunpoint I saw the errors of my way.

CHORUS

Bad decisions make the best stories

Usually on down the road

Bad decisions get the best of me

And I don't know where to go

Damascus
Beer Before Whisky

Well I ran into an old friend a few nights ago. Said he'd been through some tough times, had a really rough go
Sentimental and thinkin' cause we'd been drinkin', came to a conclusion that we already know

CHORUS
Beer before whiskey
all things in time
it's a little bit risky
clouds up my mind yeah

Well when life gets to feeling tough, I'll drink more than enough
won't take too long before it hits me. Beer before whiskey

Well it's not how you start out, it's how you end
it matters most about where you been
and how you turned out despite all the the odd
a soul searching moment between you and God

CHORUS

Beer before whiskey

all things in time

it's a little bit risky

clouds up my mind yeah

Well when life gets to feeling tough, I'll drink more than enough
When life gets to feeling hard, I'll drink more than my share
When life gets to feeling tough, I'll drink more than enough
Won't take too long before it hits me

CHORUS

Beer before whiskey

all things in time

it's a little bit risky

clouds up my mind yeah

Certainties

What do you do when you fountain runs dry and you can't quench the thirst cause you've run out of time?
How does it feel to give me your life and fall to your knees?

Don't expect me to pay, yeah, you gave it away,
you asked me to pay, I just found you that way.

When I found you that way, full of pain full of doubt, and covered in scars
Tell me does it hurt, when you kick out the bricks, then you tremble and say...

Don't expect me to pay, yeah, you gave it away,
you asked me to pay, I just found you that way.

CHORUS
But, there is a bigger plan than you, you'll need my love to see this through.
This road's not meant to walk upon alone.
Never a victim of circumstance, you're just a boy with a second chance.
Don't go fooling yourself if its redemption you'll seek.

How does it feel when you lose your sight, in spite of the chains, still there is light?
I know you're heart, I recognize what would you have me do.

CHORUS

But, there is a bigger plan than you, you'll need my love to see this through.

This road's not meant to walk upon alone.

Never a victim of circumstance, you're just a boy with a second chance.

Don't go fooling yourself if its redemption you'll seek.

Everything That's Nice

If I could go back, if I could return.

What would I change, what have I learned
Sometimes life slowly erodes away
Sometimes it quickly dissipates

Something is lost in the blink of an eye
Hollow sound soft in the night
Sometimes love smiles upon your heart
Sometimes it tears your world apart

CHORUS
There are very few certainties in this life, in this life
Well girl I can tell you most certainly
Some day you’ll miss today, you’ll miss today

Now all I want is to be forgiven
But I’m not yours so who are we kidding
I wear proudly all the scars you gave me
Still I hate the way you hate me

CHORUS

There are very few certainties in this life, in this life

Well girl I can tell you most certainly

Some day you’ll miss today, you’ll miss today

BRIDGE
And it goes on and on and on and on again

CHORUS

There are very few certainties in this life, in this life

Well girl I can tell you most certainly

Some day you’ll miss today, you’ll miss today...

Disco

...and she said I've got everything that I've ever wanted
...and she said I've got everything I've ever dreamed of
...and she said I've got everything I've ever needed
and I said I've got nothing, I've got nothing I've got for free

CHORUS
Cuz everything that's nice, everything has it's price
Don't chance the glory if you can't take the pain very reaction its half it's name

She said you're crazy to try and change the world with just a song, just a tune
I said, I know dear, I haven't got a clue but somehow I managed to change you.

And she says its so cold, I don't know this is insane
where living the life where everyday is just the same
I said I know, just hold on just for a while just hold on

CHORUS

Cuz everything that's nice, everything has it's price

Don't chance the glory if you can't take the pain very reaction its half it's name

Nancy

Well Nancy came home early from work one day because of an aching in her head. And she'd forgot about that pain it's safe to say when shoe found a pair of pumps underneath her bed.
But these shoes they did not belong to her. She began to wonder to whom they might? It must have a woman of impressive stature that wore the same size as her husband Dwight...

CHORUS
Oh Nancy, don't you feel ashamed. It's not your fault, that could be so cruel.
I know your life will never be the same. Since the day you found out your man was a Nancy, too.
Yeah he was a nancy too.

Well Nancy sat down and she started to realize that events in the past now had new meaning.
Like how he always bought her lingerie that was twice her size and some dresses never came back from dry cleaning.
But Nancy broke it off and it was easy to see why. But by no means was she a homophobe! Just turns out that the man she thought was the perfect guy, turns out to be a dude looking to double his wardrobe.

CHORUS
Oh Nancy, don't you feel sad. Well it's not your fault life can be so cruel.
Look at it this way, he's like the sister you never had.
Since the day you found he was a Nancy too.
Yeah he was a Nancy, too.
Well he like to walk town in lady's shoes.
Now your singing my husband a cross dresser blues.

Omaha

I left her at a truck stop west of Omaha. Never saw it coming, she jumped out and I drove off.
Took one look in my mirror, for a second glance, but all I saw was just her waving one hand.

I stopped my truck, right in its tracks. Looked out my window and waved my finger right back. Said
“Hey baby, I don’t know where I’m going to, any place I go will be much better off without you!”

CHORUS
Not going back, to Omaha, not going back I’m better off alone.

I’m sure she tried to call, but I shut my cell phone off. Just drove and drove till I was sure she was gone.
Hey baby, I know you won’t be long alone. You’re way too codependent to be here all alone.

CHORUS

Not going back, to Omaha, not going back I’m better off alone.

Some people say that what I’ve done is wrong.
I had to tell my side of the story in a song.
If they’d seen half the stuff that you have put me through,
I’m sure they’d done exactly what I thought I had to do.
But on the other side of the coin, how will you get pretty little self back to your home in DesMoines?
I’m sure some lonely trucker on the road will give you a lift if you help him with the load.

CHORUS

Not going back, to Omaha, not going back I’m better off alone.

2nd Gear

It's peaceful tonight cause nobody's here. Without all the lights my life is clear.
I don't want to fight I just want you near and this is my life in second gear.

CHORUS
Don't wish this upon you, I'll never give up on you and this is my life in second  gear.

You're not always wrong, you're not always right

Not every choice is black and white.
And how many lost, just what was the cost
of living your life in second gear?

CHORUS

Don't wish this upon you, I'll never give up on you and this is my life in second  gear.

It's almost more than I can take
I pray to God for one more day, one more day

CHORUS

Don't wish this upon you, I'll never give up on you and this is my life in second  gear.

Did you think you could change with all this time?
Did you think you could go on lovin' blind?

CHORUS
The time has come to make a choice, but don't look back, just hear
this voice and move.

You don't even have to say a word
I already know whats on your mind
You don't even have to say a word
No you don't even have to say a word

CHORUS

The time has come to make a choice, but don't look back, while all I need is to hear you laugh and move

I-35

On the 35 down to Waco like I was 11 months ago
For miles up ahead all I see is red, gotta find another way around.

Everyone’s a semi-pro driver racing against their gps
That feelin' from within keeps me coming back again,
always trying to beat that time.

CHORUS
And it climbs, so I drive faster! It’s a risk, I’ve gotta take.
I see Abbot just ahead, but the traffic is stopped dead,
I’ve gotta find another way around

It started out to be an hour journey
it’s been almost 3 and I’m nearly there.
McLane is up ahead, but all I see is red,

and we’re down to just one lane again

Back in town things look familiar,

every hole and barrel right where they used to be.
It’s like I never left, or no one came to work,
while waiting for my return.

CHORUS
And I drive to the buckle, to see my friends Ryan and Jen
Blue’s sitting a stool and peoples shooting pool,
and Gangsta Dave is rocking out again!

New Strings

I've put some new strings on my old guitar it's time to break out of this slump and go on living, go on living come what may.

I've finally realized I've missed the point in finding someone like you
and now I'm hoping this time I can see it through.

I've put some new strings on my old guitar and breathed some life into it once again 'cause now I realize I can't go on living this way.

CHORUS
So, tell me why
And tell me why
And tell me why
And tell me

Well its moving forward. And its movin'.
And its making choices. And its being wrong.
And it's knowing heartache. And its knowing love.
And its learning lessons. From God above.

CHORUS

So, tell me why

And tell me why

And tell me why

And tell me

I've put some new strings on my old guitar and I've written you a line 'cause it hurts so bad and I cannot make it go away.

One More

I swore that last time was the last time I'd wake up in the dirt again
I swore that last time was the last time I'd go to bed with my best friend.

I swore that last drag was my last drag, I swore that was my last tatoo
I swore I'd never never call you and then I swore I'd never swear again.

CHORUS
You know it might be so much easier (If this stuff was hard to find)
If I was the quitting kind (was to be my last goodbye)
I could never never change you (no matter how I try)
when it's time for me to go I'll take one more for the road.

I swore that last night was the last time I'd wake up in the dirt again.
And just last night I spent my last dime on the last round.
I woke up with empty pockets and a head full of hurt.

Just before my last hit I swore that that was it my life I'm getting clean.
Things have gotten out of hand I must admit
With all the uppers and the downers and everything else in between.

CHORUS

You know it might be so much easier (If this stuff was hard to find)

If I was the quitting kind (was to be my last goodbye)

I could never never change you (no matter how I try)

when it's time for me to goI'll take one more for the road.

and I'll take one more for the road when it's time for me to go
I'll take one more for the road now it's time for me to go
this was to be my last goodbye.

CHORUS

You know it might be so much easier (If this stuff was hard to find)

If I was the quitting kind (was to be my last goodbye)

I could never never change you (no matter how I try)

when it's time for me to goI'll take one more for the road.

Wounds

She got a hold of me. She got a hold of me.
Something about you girl I can't break free.
She got a hold of me

She got a piece of my heart. She got a piece of my heart.
I knew it baby right from the start.
She got a piece of my heart.

CHORUS
I'd never believe in this. Too much time I could not wish.
What if none of this is real? I would know just how to feel.
But I'm sure my wounds will heal.

I can see it in your eyes. You know I belong right by your side.
We knew it, baby right from the start.
You got a piece of my heart.

CHORUS

I'd never believe in this. Too much time I could not wish. What if none of this is real? I would know just how to feel. But I'm sure my wounds will heal.

This Road

And they say be normal and just bite your tongue like everyone around
And they say be patient and just hold your breath like everyone in town

CHORUS
But you're going too fast for this road
you're going too fast for this road again
you're going too fast for this road
you better slow that mother down

And they say be normal and just bite you tongue like everyone around
And they say be patient and just hold your breath like everyone in town

CHORUS

But you're going too fast for this road

you're going too fast for this road again

you're going too fast for this road

you better slow that mother down

you're going too fast
you're going too fast slow it down
you're going too fast for this road
